He would later become a student of the Philadelphia School District’s Philadelphia Creative and Performing Arts High School from which he graduated in 1989, as well as Settlement Music School, and the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts before moving on to attend the Julliard School in New York City.rnrnMcBride has won five Grammy Awards, most recently for Best Improvised Solo for jazz standard Cherokee, and has been named as the new Artistic Director of the world-renowned Newport Jazz Festival. McBride can be heard regularly on the radio as the host of NPR’s Jazz Night in America.
