CITY OF PHILADELPHIA LAUNCHES NEW OPEN DATA WEBSITE FOR CITY CONTRACTS

Philadelphia, April 15, 2014 – The City of Philadelphia, through a joint effort among the Finance Department, Chief Integrity Officer and the Office of Innovation and Technology (OIT), launched a new, online, open data website for City contracts (www.phila.gov/contracts/data). The site provides data on the City’s professional services contracts in a searchable format and includes a breakdown of contract dollars by vendor, department and service type.rnrn rnrn“Part of being an open government is ensuring citizens have easy access to valuable City data in simple to understand formats,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. “This contracts data website is another example in a long line that demonstrates our Administration’s commitment to transparency and public participation.”rnrn rnrnThe website features a “frequently asked questions” section to help users understand the data available on the site. It also provides the entire data set for download in a Microsoft Excel® compatible CSV format.rnrn rnrnThe website will be updated quarterly and will correspond with the mandatory quarterly reporting requirements for professional services contracts.
