Mayor Nutter, City Officials Host 4th Annual LGBT History Month Celebration

Nutter, the Office of LGBT Affairs and the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations hosted the fourth annual Rainbow Flag Raising Ceremony at City Hall to celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) History Month. The rainbow flag will be flown next to the United States flag and the City flag for the month of October in honor of LGBT History Month.rn rn“Throughout the month of October, the City will fly the rainbow flag as a symbol of our commitment to equality and our support of LGBT people,” said Mayor Nutter. “As an LGBT ally and friend, I am proud that Philadelphia celebrates diversity and the accomplishments of LGBT people and the community, and continues to advocate for the fight for civil rights for every Philadelphian, Pennsylvanian and American.”rn rnAt this year’s flag raising ceremony, the City spotlighted several community organizations:rn rnAIDS Law Project of PA, marking its 25th anniversary of service;rnAttic Youth Center, marking its 20th anniversary of service; andrnThe Philadelphia Dyke March, celebrating its 15th anniversary.
