STATEMENT FROM MAYOR NUTTER ON SRC RESIGNATIONS

Philadelphia, September 19, 2011 – Mayor Nutter accepted the resignations of SRC Chairman Robert L. Archie Jr. and SRC Board member Johnny Irizarry after two and a half years of public service.rnrn“I very much appreciate the service of Bob Archie and Johnny Irizarry through very difficult and challenging times,” said Mayor Nutter. “During their watch, students continued to show improved test scores and the graduation rate has improved.”rnrnThe SRC also began to take on a series of difficult issues, including low performing schools and a facilities improvement plan, the Mayor said.rnrnChairman Archie and SRC member Irizarry had a strong interest in improving student performance. They created the African American and Latino Male Dropout Taskforce, which reported its findings in September, 2010.rnrnMayor Nutter will announce very shortly new appointees to the SRC.
