The City is planning a day of family-friendly fun with distinct international flavor culminating in the Championship game between the teams representing Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). The day’s agenda begins at noon with a “Gateway of Nations” Festival. The 1st base gate will open at 3:45pm for the in-stadium events: a youth soccer game, the parade of nations featuring locally created banners representing the participating nations, a naturalization ceremony, and the championship game.

The PIUC began in early September with 32 teams of Philadelphians – representing 32 countries around the world – participating in group play, followed by a knockout tournament leading to the final rounds. The city-wide tournament was conceived as an event that uses the universal language of sport to bring people together and showcase Philadelphia’s rich cultural diversity.

MEDIA RSVP: Journalists wishing to cover the PHL Unity Cup events on Nov. 5th must RSVP to Jennifer.Crandall@phila.gov no later than Wednesday, November 2nd @ 5:00 pm.

Media will receive credentials on site at media check-in. Media should enter the ballpark at the Staff & Media Entrance on Darien Street across from Parking Lot P. Only media on the check-in list will receive credentials to enter the ballpark, no exceptions.
