THIRD ANNUAL PHILLY SPRING CLEANUP BREAKS RECORDS MAYOR NUTTER THANKS PROJECT LEADERS AND ENCOURAGES THEM TO “KEEP UP THE SWEEP UP”

Philadelphia, April 15 – Today, Mayor Michael A. Nutter and the Philadelphia Streets Department announced results of the 2010 Philly Spring Cleanup and thanked community project planners for their role and participation in the event. The day was a tremendous success and exceeded the previous year’s cleaning accomplishments. Target is the lead corporate supporter for the 2010 Philly Spring Cleanup.rnrn“For the third year in a row the Philly Spring Cleanup was a tremendous success. At 231 sites across the City more than 11,000 Philadelphians helped clean up their neighborhoods, block by block. My heartfelt thanks go out to our fantastic community project planners, the Streets Department and all our corporate supporters. Going forward we will work together to keep up the sweep up,” said Mayor Nutter during a conference call to announce results of the Cleanup.rnrn“I am proud of our personnel in the Streets Department’s Sanitation Division,” said Streets Commissioner Clarena Tolson. “Our crews worked long and hard to keep up with the scale of items placed out for collection on Saturday.
